Framer July Feature Update

July at Framer was one for the books. Framer rolled out smarter AI in Workshop, gave you total creative control over your links, made it easier to track every change with revamped Version History, and supercharged its Plugin APIs. Plus, finding what you need in big projects is now a breeze thanks to Framer’s new search features. Here’s a closer look at everything Framer shipped:
Smarter Component Generation with Claude 4.0

If you’ve spent any time in Workshop this month, you’ve probably noticed a step up in creativity and precision. Framer has added support for Anthropic’s Claude 4.0—its most advanced AI model yet. Whether you’re spinning up a new button component, prototyping a layout, or generating boilerplate code, Claude 4.0 delivers cleaner, smarter results. Think of it as having a senior dev on standby, ready to brainstorm solutions or refine your code in seconds. Give it a spin and see what you can build!
Total Control Over Link Styles

Links are the connective tissue of any site, so Framer wanted to ensure you can style them exactly how you imagine. Enter the new Decoration panel—your one-stop shop for color, thickness, underline styles, offset, and more. You’ll find it everywhere links live: custom text layers, inline CMS fields, you name it. And because links do more than just point somewhere, recent updates like Rel Attributes and Parameter Forwarding work hand-in-hand with these new decoration options. Check out the video walkthrough to see how a few clicks can turn a plain URL into a branded interaction.
Version History, Reimagined

Framer redesigned the Versions view—now available both on the Canvas and in Settings—lets you preview what changed in each snapshot. Spot tweaks side-by-side, then roll back or deploy the exact version you want. It’s like having a time machine for your site: jump back to an old landing page or pick up right where you left off last week. Ready to explore your project’s evolution? Just click the Versions icon and watch your history come to life.
Powerful New Plugin APIs

For plugin authors, July brings two huge additions:
Context Menu APIs
Framer now lets you build menus that feel native—whether that’s in the plugin header or anywhere else in your UI. Authentication-related plugins automatically include a logout option, so users can manage sessions without friction.Code File APIs & Code Versions Plugin
Plugins can now read, edit, and manage code files like Components or Overrides directly from Framer. Plus, the new Code Versions plugin lets users browse, preview, and restore previous iterations of their code—no more relying on external Git tools for simple rollbacks. Find all the details on Framer’s Updates Page if you’re ready to dive in.
Find Anything—Fast

Big projects deserve fast navigation. With Framer’s new global search, you can instantly locate Pages, Layers, Assets, Folders, Components—you name it. Just open the search bar, type a few letters, and watch the list filter in real time. Need to clear your search? Hit ESC and you’re right back where you started. It’s the shortcut you never knew you needed until you tried it—especially handy when your site grows to dozens of pages or your component library balloons.
